Happy February!
Although I’m shocked to see how quickly January flew by, I’m excited to share my half marathon training monthly progress with you!
The last week of January brought an unexpected halt to my training as I came down with a wretched chest and head cold. It took me about 5 days to recover! That meant NO Orangetheory, and NO running!
And I can honestly say that I missed both! Being sedentary is NOT my thing, but alas, you’ve got to listen to your body and rest up if you want it to function properly. I was able to manage 5 miles on the last day of the month to add to my final mileage total for January: 62 miles!
I was somewhat shocked by that number and went back to recalculate more times than I’m willing to admit in public, and sure enough, with all of the long weekend runs, shorter weekday runs, plus 1-1.5 miles during each OTF session I managed to log the same distance as it is from here to Orlando in a month.
I’ve got to say that I am very proud of that number. That is definitely the most miles <on foot> that I’ve logged in one month by far.
February means I’m *this much* closer to crossing the finish line of my first 13.1. I can’t wait to see what this month of brings me as I roll into even longer training sessions (hello 9 miles this weekend!), but as always, I’m excited to feel what my body is capable of, and continue to spread the message that Fitness is NOT a size!
My goals for February:
- Stick with my Sarasota ½ marathon training plan calendar as planned.
- Figure out what to do in regards to fuel during the race (I still have NO idea!)
- Continue strength and endurance training at Orangetheory.
- Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!
- Foam roll and work on flexibility with PiYo at home.
What did you accomplish during the first month of 2015? What goals do you have for February? I’d love to hear and help keep you accountable! We’ve got this!
-Steph 🙂
You have been doing GREAT Steph. Truly an inspiration!

I am right behind you all the way. I am doing my first 1/2 marathon in May. I just started training this week. I am very slow and need to get faster. You are my inspiration to finish this race. Good luck.
Congrats on your progress! I’m starting a new work out schedule and getting in the routine is the hard part. One day I hope to train for a half marathon, I’ll start with a few 5ks first though.
